Mudit Narain is Vice President at IIM Ahmedabad’s Center for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), and co-founder of CIIE’s Bharat Innovation Fund. In his current role, he focuses on encouraging and enabling technology-enabled entrepreneurship in the real economy sectors of healthcare, sustainability, digital technologies for rural masses.
Prior to joining CIIE, Mudit served for 7 years in the World Bank’s Energy Practice, working on, and later managing, several investment projects in clean energy generation, transmission, distribution, and energy efficiency. He has worked on or led investment projects in Nepal, India, Egypt, Bangladesh, Botswana, and South Africa.
Mudit earned two masters’ degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), concentrating on the technologies for, and policies of, climate change mitigation in emerging economies.
Apart from research papers in climate change mitigation and energy policy, Mudit has contributed to several landmark reports like the MIT Future of Coal study, the World Bank’s 2010 World Development Report on Development and Climate Change, and an upcoming book on public participation in electricity regulation in India.
Apart from his professional responsibilities, Mudit is a keen supporter of publicly accessible Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs), for broadening access to top-notch education for students of all means and origins globally.
